Additional Training Workshops | Multi Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly | IDC Gili Islands

During the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) with Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod candidates will receive a level of training far beyond that generally found within Industry. As well as providing the required PADI IDC syllabus, Multi Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod has devised a number of additional components on the program designed to not only provide the highest quality of professional dive education.



The program is offered every month at Trawangan Dive; the first PADI 5 Star IDC Career Development Center (CDC) to be established in the Gili Islands.

The dive center is physically one of the largest on Gili Trawangan and is one of the highest scuba certifiers within Indonesia meaning that once the IDC is finished new instructor will get the chance to team teach alongside highly experienced PADI scuba diving instructors. Professional level divers will find the very best of world class facilities on offer creating the perfect instructor level training facilities. All of this combined with the very best of training available.


The PADI Instructor Development Course in the Gili Islands is entirely run by Holly Macleod, who has a massive reputation for instructor level training within the recreational diving industry. Having won multiple industry awards including those for the overall quality of her instructor training programs and her sheer commitment to the recreational diving industry.

Having a wealth of experience within the dive training industry and having worked in a multitude of dive related work roles in many of the international diving destinations around the world she is perfectly positioned to advise new scuba diving Instructor about potential job opportunities and what to expect from potential positions within specific geographical locations. During the program there are a number of unique workshops which have been designed in accordance with her extensive experience to enhance the quality of training provide and to add some additional information to help new instructors with the transition into working life.
During the course candidates are introduced to the PADI Online Systems; therefore looking a everything from looking at the online classifieds to certifying students through the PADI PIC online system

DSD Conduct and Conduct workshop are included in the PADI IDC Syllabus, but during the program this will be extended allowing candidates to practice methods of conducting the Discover Scuba Diving Program in the safest possible way whilst providing the best possible underwater experience.
Additional workshops include dive site set up and management workshops, student control workshops which are designed to teach candidates how to set up their training site to conduct the particular program they wish to teach. For example taking a Discover Scuba Diving Participant on an underwater experience requires a different setup and procedure than dive 1 of the Open Water Course where the students are still entering Open Water for the first time. Similarly, Advanced Open Water Diver Students are more experienced and therefore require an entirely new setup, procedure and conduct. These PADI IDC Indonesia Workshops are conducted in a dry format on the beach and in Open Water.
PADI are always updating the various core components of the syllabus and the latest update is with the Adventures in Diving Program, which is now replaced with the new Advanced Course. During the course in the Gili Islands, candidates will learn aspects of both the old and the new course. The June PADI IDC Indonesia | Platinum PADI Course Director Holly in the Gili Islands


The PADI IDC Indonesia would like to welcome 9 New PADI Instructor Development Candidates taking the PADI Instructor Development Course with Multi Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod.
 
 


During the month of June we will see Patrick, Robyn, Derek, Stacy, Kylie, Sam Todd, Felix, Piers become professional PADI Scuba Diving Instructors. These guys come from a variety of backgrounds and therefore bring a variety of diving and non-diving attributes to their new career within the recreational diving Industry. The program consists of 2 parts; the Pre-IDC preparation course and the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC).

The Pre-IDC preparation workshops are conducted over 5 days and are designed to prepare candidates to make a smooth transition on to the Instructor Development Course (IDC) and reviews the knowledge and skills from the Divemaster Course to a mastery level. Although the Pre-IDC Preparation is optional candidates are strongly advised to participate.

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is conducted over 11 days and consists of classroom, swimming pool and open water environments. During classroom sessions candidates will learn about the business of diving, marketing, the PADI System of education, developing knowledge presentations, confined water teaching techniques, keep diving, risk management, standards and procedures, the Adventures in Diving Program, Rescue Diver Course and the Divemaster Course. The will also conduct individual Knowledge Development Presentations and participate in mock examinations.
During pool sessions candidates will participate in DSD workshops, Rescue Diver Workshops, Skills Development and Rescue Exercise 7 and CESA workshops. Candidate will also practice their individual confined water presentations. In Open Water candidates will again practice skills from the Adventures in Diving Program, the Rescue Diver Course, and Rescue Exercise 7 and also practice their individual Open Water Presentations.
The program is designed to be educational and fun, developing candidates to a level over and above that generally found within the industry providing them with the opportunity to go on and develop an extremely rewarding and successful career within the diving industry.

The program runs every month at the only PADI 5 Star IDC Career Development Center (CDC) in Gili Trawangan and all Instructor level training is fully conducted by Multiple Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod. During the pre-IDC preparation candidates will review the knowledge and skills from the Divemaster Course so as to make the perfect start on the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). As well as reviewing The PADI Divemaster Knowledge the pre IDC preparation allows potential candidates to settle in, meet each other and make a good start on the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). During the PADI Instructor Development Course candidates will participate in classroom, swimming pool and open water sessions.


Classroom sessions revolve around candidates learning about sales, marketing, the business of diving, risk management, diver acquisition, PADI Standards and Procedures, Dive Theory and about presenting specific PADI Programs. For pool sessions candidates will need to participate in DSD, Open Water and Rescue workshops learning how to conduct and present confined water presentations. In Open Water candidates will learn about conducting and presenting Open Water, Adventures in Diving and Rescue Exercises.

Our IDC course runs every month and is conducted on an 11 day schedule with an additional 4 days of pre-IDC preparation at no additional cost. Although the pre study workshops is not compulsory it is strongly recommended and allows candidates to make a smooth transition into the program. As well as the mandatory course syllabus student will also gain valuable techniques in student control, dive site setup and much more.

The Gili Islands Zero to Hero | PADI Divemaster + PADI IDC Indonesia | Trawangan Dive




Becoming a PADI Scuba Diving Instructor with Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod at Trawangan Dive is an extremely rewarding experience, but where do you start?

Life as a PADI Professional

As a PADI professional you will be a mentor to all up and coming divers, sharing your experiences and assisting with their knowledge and training. The PADI Divemaster is a professional dive guide that can conduct and organize dive excursions, scuba reviews and assist with the entire range of PADI recreational programs. A PADI Scuba Diving Instructor can conduct the entire range of non-specialty recreational dive programs taking new divers through their entry level training and beyond to any further education courses they wish to take.

Life as a PADI Professional can be extremely rewarding and successful, often gaining the respect of new divers from all over the world whilst having fun and constantly making new friends.


How to become a PADI professional

At Trawangan Dive it is possible to take all of the PADI programs up to divemaster consecutively. New divers will start with the Open Water Diver Course, which usually lasts for three days and teaches people the basic diving knowledge and skills which will be assessed both in the training pool and in the ocean. The Advanced Open Water Diver program is the next step and allows divers to choose 5 Adventure Dives allowing them to specialize in areas of interest. Once an Advanced Diver it is possible to move directly on to take the PADI Rescue Diver Course which teaches dives about rescue techniques in and out of the water. The Rescue Diver is also the prerequisite for The PADI Divemaster, although before starting the course divers will need to accumulate and log 40 dives.

Most people spend between 3 and 5 weeks taking the PADI Divemaster qualification and during the course will take part in a variety of Knowledge Development Sessions, Water Skill Exercises, Divemaster Workshops and hands on practical assessments. Participants will develop the necessary role model and leadership skills necessary to lead, organize and direct a range of PADI programs including the scuba review and the Discover Local Diving programs. During the course participants will also learn about the role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster, Diver safety and risk management, Business of diving and your career and Awareness of the dive environment and will gain exposure to Dive setup and management, Mapping an open water site, Conducting dive briefings, Organizing a search and recovery project and a deep dive.

Once a certified PADI Divemaster with 100 dives you will be eligible to enroll on the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) which will transform PADI Divemaster’s into PADI Instructors. The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) teaches you everything you will need to know about teaching the PADI education system. Our award winning Platinum PADI Course Director has worked in a variety of dive related jobs in a range of places around the globe and know firsthand what to expect from the industry and of course what the industry will expect from new instructors.

The PADI IDC Indonesia at Trawangan Dive is conducted over 11 days and candidates are strongly suggested to arrive a minimum of 4 days in advance to take advantage of the pre IDC preparation workshops and some free fun diving. The Gili IDC can help you to change your life and start a brand new career. Whether you’re already a PADI Divemaster or you are brand new to diving we offer a range of options to help you get started.

A career in scuba diving is not only an extremely rewarding career it is also a lifestyle choice as you will be teaching other things that they may have previously not have thought possible and unlocking a whole new underwater world to discover.

Most of the PADI recreational dive courses can be taken in a relatively short period of time, usually anything from 2 to 4 days. It will take a bit longer for the professional level courses. For example we recommend a minimum of a month to take the PADI Divemaster Course, but however this will be dependent upon your personal level of experience and how many dives you have logged.

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the final step to becoming a PADI Open Water Instructor (OWSI) and takes between 10 and 14 days. The course teaches you about all aspects of teaching the PADI education system and the relevant standards that apply.

The Gili IDC course is conducted in the only PADI 5 star CDC Resort on the Gili Islands and the resort has been awarded the highest possible PADI resort classification available, so you are safe in the knowledge that all facilities will be over the required standard for teaching the full range of PADI professional dive courses. Our classroom facilities are equipped with all the latest multimedia teaching aids and our training pool is located on site just outside of the classroom. Our open water training site has great visibility and is only a couple of minute’s boat journey away. It is equipped with purpose built training lines and is a perfect site for training potential PADI Instructors
 
 

Our PADI Instructor Development Course is 950 Euros and includes the EFRI course and the necessary pre IDC preparation study.
